60 Fighters Leaving the UFC Roster

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is eliminating large percentages of employed fighters. UFC President Dana White announced that between December 2020-2021, contracted fighters are being eliminated for cost-saving measures. Clarification on the number of rostered athletes being terminated was revealed, with that number being sixty. Which fighters lose their contracts isn’t dependent on popularity but skillsets. This was proven by the first revising announced for UFCs roster. Yoel Romero was terminated on December 4th.

MMA reporters & analysts were shocked by the unexpected firing of Yoel Romero. This man is ranked #5 in the UFC Middleweight Division. When reporters questioned UFCs President on why Romero was terminated, Dana White responded by noting Yoel had lost four of his last five bouts. Mentioning of Romero’s age was reasoned simultaneously, with Yoel being forty-four & unlikely to win another fight.

Before reporters could issue a judgment to Dana White for his corporate directive, the UFC President announced that fifty-nine other competitors on the roster are being cut by December 2021. White reasoned that financial losses resulting from Covid-19 are prompting changes in the roster. Multiple competitors aren’t viable options for octagon contention, meaning their UFC contract is continually at jeopardy. Fighters that haven’t performed in recent televised events & pay-per-views are likely being let go.

Popularity Still Alive

UFC President Dana White noted that compared to other professional sports, the Ultimate Fighting Championship had earned greater profits. That sentiment is accurate & shows the growing popularity of UFC matches. Supporters spending $100.000 on pay-per-views during the pandemic wouldn’t be sustained unless dedication to the sport was clearly defined. It’s unknown how fighters like Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, Jon Jones, and numerous others will react to learning the roster is being refined. Those individuals must co-operate with UFC President Dana White on numerous matters if contract guarantees are to be restored.
