Masvidal Provides Updates on Contract Negotiations

Dana White is creating notable problems amongst his top contenders, including Jon Jones & Conor McGregor. Those competitors that garner the UFC millions in profit have been informed they’ll receive lower salaries amid the coronavirus. These fighters didn’t respond positively & began refusing to compete, with Jon Jones and Conor McGregor both confirming their retirement.

The most recent top contender to become the enemy of Dana White is Jorge Masvidal. Jorge Masvidal revealed information regarding delayed & terminated contract negotiations between these two parties. This UFC Competitor provided updates on the contract negotiations, noting that Dana White is locking his contract. This means that Jorge Masvidal cannot be released from the UFC & also cannot compete. White prompted the final agreement on Masvidal after the BMF Titleholder requested his release from the UFC. This request came after Dana White refused to provide Jorge Masvidal with his desired per-fight salary, offering the UFC Titleholder half his regular finances.

The UFC President has implemented similar measures onto all top contenders in his roster, expecting them to receive salaries reminiscent to unknown entities in MMA. Fighters would lose millions & the UFC President would still earn his annual salary/bonus. Considering that Dana White is meant to protect his top roster, this behaviour has begun backfiring against Masvidal & other competitors.

The Unfortunate Truth

ESPN Reporters asked Jorge Masvidal for details regarding this situation. He provided answers, noting that his 1st contract was against Nate Diaz. This contract was terminated after Diaz requested millions for his return. This prompted the UFC to create a deal with Darren Till or Kamaru Usman. Neither bouts would prove fruition after Dana White changes his mindset on contract payments. Considering that fighters like Masvidal, McGregor, and Jones bring millions of profits into the UFC per match, it’s shocking that Dana White would take this approach.

Dedicated supporters behind Jorge Masvidal hope that this UFC Fighter is permitted to return. His earlier return would be July 11th at Fight Island. Considering that travelling restrictions & contract negotiations are terminated for Jorge Masvidal, his return is unlikely for 2020.
